Vox Supreme serial number 1133

currently in the UK

To judge by the various component date codes, the amp is likely to have been ready for sale at some point in the last third of 1967. The preamp chassis number 01171; and the power section 01300.

So far as one can tell no serial number plate was affixed to the back board as we have it, but inside the cabinet there is a paper slip bearing the hand-written note: "S. No. ST1133. Swinging BLUE JEANS. 22.11.67 Phil Smith."

Quite who Phil Smith was is not known at present - his name has not turned up so far in existing records of JMI employees - which raises the question of how the serial number was known to be ST-1133. Perhaps the back board, along with the box as a whole, was a replacement for the original. No holes were drilled in its top for a standard plastic handle.

Pictures of the preamp and power section to ome on new pages.

Early style of logo, "VOX" alone in silver.

Underside of the top. The holes between the two smaller vents are not in the right place or indeed spaced correctly for a standard handle.

No cloth covering over the vinyl.

Two holes for the VOX logo.

On to pictures of the preamp.
