The Vox PAR100SS
100w, solid state, six channels, reverb
Detail from the "Vox Sound Limited" catalogue of August 1971.
Design of the Vox PAR100SS, effectively a standard PA 100 in general form but with the addition of Reverb (selectable individually on the six channels via push-pull volume controls), appears to have begun in late 1969 / early 1970. Although available copies of the circuit diagram (schematic) - OS/214 - are a little difficult to read, the first date given looks to be in early 1970. The information panel of the early "Works" copy that came up for sale a few years ago indicates that the diagram was drawn up on a "Vox Sound Equipment Limited" sheet amended to read "Vox Sound Limited". The former came to an end in December 1969, the latter coming into being in January 1970.
Detail of OS214, "Vox Sound Equipment Limited" amended to read "Vox Sound Limited".
Sales seem to have been reasonably good over the model's two or so years of production (1970 to early 1973) - well over 500 issued, running from serial numbers 1000 to at least 1521. Both the PA100 and PAR100 are good, loud, clean amps.
