Vox adverts for the solid state line from the pages of
"Beat Instrumental" magazine
1967 - 1968
Below, full page adverts placed by Vox in Beat Instrumental (the only magazine in which the company regularly advertised) - late 1967 to mid 1968. The number under each page - "No. 53" for instance - is the Beat Instrumental issue number.
For ads for the solid state range placed in 1966 and the first half of 1967, see this page.
As can be seen below, Vox failed to present adverts for several months in '68 - probably a consequence of unsettled conditions. In December 1967, Royston Industries, the company that effectively owned Vox / Jennings Musical Industries, went into receivership. A little under two months later, Burndept Electronics, which helped Vox develop and assemble the solid state range in its Works on West Street in Erith, was sold off.
It is likely that Vox became independent at this point too, keeping its name "Jennings Musical Industries" as a convenience until summer 1968. Then the change to "Vox Sound Equipment Ltd".
